Chaga Mushroom – organic
Chaga Mushroom – organic whose botanical name is Inonotus obliquus is grown and harvested in Canada.
Chaga is a fungus, a parasitic carpophore that looks like the charred remains of burned wood on the side of a birch tree (sometimes growing on Elm and Alder, but Birch is its favorite). They are used as a tea, coffee replacement or blended with chicory.
If you are using the cut chaga for the purpose of making a tea, you can re-brew your mushroom pieces for a second or third turn without using flavor or potency.
These premium Chaga mushroom pieces are rich in Vitamin C and Zinc. There are no additives, preservatives, fillers, artificial colors, flavors, soy or gluten.
Preparing chaga is much like preparing other tisanes only the brewing time is generally longer. We use a heaping tsp per cup of good quality water at near boil water and steep for about 10 minutes. The brew will be very dark brown and brothy. You may rebrew the same mushroom pieces until the water begins loosing color.
