Giddapahar Tea Estate – History
Established by the Shaw family in 1881, Giddapahar Tea Estate remains one of the only family-owned estates in Darjeeling. It is NOT a corporate enterprise. The tea garden is managed like a family venture, as Darjeeling tea estates have, historically operated. Brothers, Himashu and Sudhanshu Shaw are in charge of all areas of the production on the estate, including cultivation, production, and distribution of the finished tea.
Giddapahar Flavor Profile
This tea is medium-bodied with full flavor and a perfectly balanced natural sweetness that is notable in teas from this region. We recommend brewing under a boil (about 195°F) and try at 2-3 minutes. This is how we like it, but you may prefer a slightly longer brew. Keep in mind this is a full-flavored tea and the longer the brew time, the higher the astringency.
