Description
Description
Genmaicha is a sweet grassy Japanese sencha tea with added savory roasted rice with some of the kernals popped. This is a Japanese classic tea, which is sometimes referred to as “rice tea” or “peoples” tea, because this tea historically was consumed by the poorest people. The added roasted rice helped mitigate the cost. Our genmaicha is a top grade Japanese Sencha with toasted brown rice.
Flavor Profile
This genmaicha has a light yellow hue and Its flavor is a mild combination of the fresh grassy flavor of green tea with the aroma of the roasted rice. A savory flavor that calms the soul. If you are a fan of roasted or toasted in your tea, also try our Hojicha!
Brewing
Genmaicha is brewed between 175℉ – 185℉ for about a minute. The hotter the water the more bitterness comes out. Some prefer the bitterness combined with the toastiness of the rice, however, our preference is a cooler 175℉. The tea is sweeter and the toastiness is well balanced.
