This is a traditional tea with a great reputation. These carefully balled leaves will give you multiple brewing opportunities. This cultivar is light and floral both in aroma and flavor with pleasant mouthfeel, that always leaves one uplifted. This tea is great for the spirit.
One legend of the origin of this tea claims that a sincere Buddhist praying to the Iron Goddess of Mercy daily. One night, he dreamed of a magic plant, which he discovered the next day. The tree sent out a unique fragrance. Buddhists believed it was a gift from the Goddess of Mercy and called it Tieguanyin tea.
Another legend refers to a poor farm worker that dutifully cared for the monument of the Goddess of Mercy and she rewarded him with a tea bush that he nurtured whose tea became known as Tieguanyin.
