Small Classes – Personalized attention

Chanoyu, the Japanese Tea Ceremony, is a practice with over four hundred years of history. It encompasses not only the making of Matcha tea but also Zen meditative focus, wabi-sabi aesthetics, spatial harmony, and the human relationship between Host and Guest.

We are pleased to offer a 4-week course ($140) in Omotesenke-style Chanoyu with licensed teacher Glenn Swann, with an ongoing enrollment opportunity.

The series will focus on learning the thin tea procedure with “Ryurei,” using a table and chairs rather than kneeling on tatami mats.

This modern adaptation preserves all the features of the older traditional style while avoiding kneeling in seiza, which is difficult or impossible for many.
